The results of the UK Town of Culture 2028 shortlisting have been published today.  

Whilst we are naturally disappointed that Alnwick has not been shortlisted, today is about saying thank you.

Together, we showed what makes Alnwick such a special place. We celebrated our history, our creativity, our landscape and, most importantly, our community.

The bid brought hundreds of people together, sparked new partnerships and created a shared vision for our town. Those things don't disappear because of today's announcement, they are now part of Alnwick's future.

As Sir Phil Redmond said in his letter to applicants, this should be seen as part of a continuing journey rather than a single outcome.

We couldn't agree more.

We may not have won the competition, but we believe we have won something just as important; a stronger, more connected Alnwick.

Over the coming months, ACE will be working with organisations across the town to build on the relationships and momentum created through the bid. Together, we want to make it easier to collaborate, celebrate everything happening in Alnwick, and continue creating opportunities for our community.

This is not the end of the story.

It's the beginning of the next chapter.
